It is important to note that at the creation or establishment of the C&S
Movement Church, it’s doctrines and beliefs were based principally on the level of the
understanding/exposure of the founding father, premised on the Old Testament
teachings. Most of these teachings overtime, have been overtaken by the New
Testament teachings/beliefs and as such, the practices of the old fold [C&S
Movement Church,] should be based on the teachings/practices of Christ as enshrined in the New
Testament, bearing in mind that the central theme/focus of both the Old and New
Testament in the Bible is Jesus Christ – the Model.
The believe in objects as essential to the C&S mode of worship as representing
anything Christ has been demystified by Christ himself in the New Testament.

1. Candle:
This symbolizes light by its use, but it has been taken to extremes, such that there are
different types and colours used for different purposes in the world that does not
reflect Christ in anyway. Hence, Christ said I am the light of the world – John 812;
God is light – 1st John 1:5; for the Glory of God gives light – Rev. 21:23. Light has
come into the world – John 3:19.

2. Rod [As A Sign Of Authority]:
Christ himself is the authority. Whoever has the word, has Christ. In the beginning
was the word – John 1:1.
All authority in heaven and on earth – Matt. 28:18.

3. Incense:
God’s presence does not require the burning of incense. Rather, an atmosphere of
love, oneness with God will attract God’s presence. In the book of Acts 2:1 there was
no burning of incense, yet the Holy Spirit manifested itself.
Today, the occultic world has taken over the use of incense to invoke different types
of demonic spirit all in the name of religion. Nowhere in the New Testament is the use
of incense mentioned.

4. Bell [As Signs Of Victory, Music And Call To Worship Etc.]
This was mainly used in the past for evangelism, to call the attention of people or alert
them, due to low level of literacy exhibited by the classic.
In the New Testament Dispensation – Model, what is required for call to worship is
exemplified in Hebrews 4:12-16. The primary purpose of call to worship is to invite
our High Priest (Jesus Christ), who through the Holy Spirit manifested in Glory. We
use praise and worship in the process of call to worship to draw the attention and
descent of our heavenly father into our midst – Psalm 100:4, also, to engender an
atmosphere conducive for the descent of the Holy Spirit – 2 Chr. 5:8-14.

5. White Garment:
There is no specific reference to the wearing of white garment as a symbol of being
clean or “white” at heart. Whereas, what is required is clean hands and a pure heart –
Psalm 24:3-4. The classic C&S believes very strongly in the wearing of the white
garment because it makes them priests of the Lord. It should be noted that uniformity
in the wearing of clothes/gowns does not guarantee the acceptance or requirements for
Godliness, rather it is the uniformity of the heart and practice of the people
[members/congregation]. This was what brought about the Pentecostal, they were in a
place in one ‘accord’ [not uniform] Acts 2:1 (KJV).

However, this does not in anyway suggest that the wearing of white garment is wrong,
but it should not be emphasized or made compulsory. Those who feel convinced to
wear it are free to do so, and those who prefer mufti should not be discouraged. This
goes for wearing of shoes as well. Our God is not in anyway interested what we wear
or do not wear. He is only interested in what is in our hearts. He expects our hearts to
be pure and to have a steadfast spirit – Psalm 51:10. The classic C&S believes
strongly in not wearing shoes because Moses was called to remove his sandals at a
time he talked to him in the book of Exodus.

Please note that the above shared views are my personal views based on my
personal research, knowledge and understanding of the word of God .

Thank you.

  2. Thanks very much for sharing the above information... 1 of the biggest accusations against Pentecostal churches is their lack of dogma and foundational theology...
Professor Martin has invested heavily in grounding the Christians on the true foundation which is Christ, the Rock!!!
    Thanks very much once again...
