DON’T BE A CHURCH GOER

“The LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart”. 1 Sam. 16:7

NATIONALITY
A Dane had emigrated to America at the age of about twenty. When he was ninety, he wanted to see his homeland once again. He travelled to Europe and stayed in Denmark for some months before returning to the United States. On his arrival he was subjected to a lot of questioning by immigration official. To his astonishment he learned that, although he had lived in the USA for about seventy years, he was not an American citizen, as he had supposed. He had never bothered about naturalization; so in the eyes of the law he was still a foreigner.

How many people profess Christianity and yet are not really Christians! Many of them attend church regularly on Sundays and even play active rule in the life of their parish. Possibly they suppose that their religious customs will suffice to obtain salvation for them. They are mistaken! “A man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ” (Gal. 2:16).

It is God who justifies; He does so on the ground of Christ’s work of redemption accomplished on the cross. There, before God, who is Holy, the Saviour atoned for the sins of all who believe in Him, those who trust Him are forgiven; they are justified. God’s sight they are the only ones who are true Christians. Their manner of life should mark them out.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, let my faith in you as my personal Lord and Saviour justifies me as a true Christian.
